This is following bobsterlobsters thoughts from the "children" thread.

The *REAL* danger of the UK's stance of arresting everyone that happens to be photographing children in public areas is not the danger of an individual having his or her rights tread on, or spending a night in jail for what would amount to foolish reasons.. (as 99% of people arrested would turn out to be innocent photographers).. no..

the *REAL* danger is that sooner or later, and most likely sooner, these arrests and hassling of people are going to go on until the authorities just say *ENOUGH*.. we're not doing it anymore.. and then the *real* perpetratures of abuse will be able to sneak in there and take advantage of the laxity.. I'm sure people will say that this is being paranoid, or going to an extreme.. and it may be.. but it's something to think about. Fear is turning us into a very weak and timid society, and it's time for it to stop.. I for one won't let the authorities bully me. There's nothing in my camera, or on my computer, that would keep me arrested, so let them search. Such foolishness.

I applaud your setiment, but as I earn my living from my computer, and my life would grind to a halt without it, I need to be a bit more careful about anything I could do that would take it away from me for any amount of time.
