I knew this would not be very well accepted but for me it was "Candid".

I'am not a strong believer in photographing strangers in candid shots and submittimg them to an open challenge on the Internet.

I was shooting for one of the other challenges when I saw the subway train approaching. My thoughts were there are people on the subway and also standing down near the subway station :)

But I am happy the way the votes turned out I did get quite a few good votes. If I had more time I should have used a faster shutter speed to try and focus yet blur the people on the train. I have some other shots I did I may show them later.

Thanks to everyone who did support my entry :)

This is one of the alternates I thought about submitting.

I'm a hardass on candids; for me, if it lacks an emotional quotient it's not candid. A good example of a "distant" candid (though it's not a photo) would be somethign liek Edward Hopper's "Nightowls" painting. Reeks of emotional gravitas.

I like the original as a photo, but I don't see how by any realistic stretch of the imagination it is what is considered a candid photo, and would not have scored it well (I didn;t manage to actually vote in this challenge) because of that.

I can fully understand the reluctance to take a candid photo for a web site, but feeling that way I'd have opted out of the challenge rather than submit something that did not meet it.

I love the work in your portfolio, your animal shots are stunning :)

I just like the challenge idea, and think your photo was scored appropriately for the challenge, sorry.

I did a search on Edward Hopper's "Nightowls", the funny part was it came back as "Nighthawks", Nightowls" and Nighthounds" :)

It is a nice painting though whatever the title is.
