Because...after spending 10 minutes (or more) critiquing an image, PMing the photographer, it would be nice to know they felt your work helpful. I don't want a 'cyber pat-on-the-back' -- Just check the box that says it was helpful.

It's not about praise: it's about knowing whether one's time is being wasted.
We both do critiques on a senior poetry forum. When someone takes their time to comment, it's generally considered polite to say, at least, 'Thanks for your time.'
When courtesy goes downhill, the world will become a much sadder place.
:)

Well, with the amount of challenges I've entered...I think 18 or 19 of them, I've asked for critiques for all of them.
I've received maybe 3.
I've replied if possible, don't always have the time, or I might forget. But I do appreciate it. Just wish I'd receive one when I ask for it.

The problem I believe is with the awareness that they are even there. I have asked for many and recieved only a handfull of critiques. That's Ok I understand the enormity of requests. BUT its only when I look at my portfolio and the number of comments in particular that I may notice an extra comment if I can remember how many that particular photo had in the first place.
I think there should be a notify button, or maybe set it up so there is an automatic notify of new comments after a challenge has completed.

Stupid question...how does one know that the comment is from a critique clubber? Is it just from the detail involved, or is it designated in some additional way?

The comment on your photo will state
Greetings from the Critique Club!
I've added a link to my CC above in previous post, check it out. |

Hi,
I know this post was made awhile back...but after reading it I didn't realize that someone could post and I wouldn't know it....guess what....I went and looked on my profile thingy (after reading in here where to go) and someone had left me a message and I didn't even know!!!! I just checked it....I didn't mean to come across ugly....I just didn't know. I'm glad I found this thread.....I wonder how many other newbies don't know.
Anyhow.....I found this thread VERY helpful! :)
Thanks!
