I'd like to show off a couple of photos I took at Christmas... my camera's performance at high ISO is absolutely stunning. The stabilising is miraculous, there's no way my FZ10 could have held a shot steady at 1/2s at the focal lengths I manage with the 7D. I'm also currently using ultra cheap kit lenses, and the quality I'm getting with them is superb.

Show off ;p
Nice pix- I like the holly - you could have entered that in the Bokeh - challenge - or have you already entered something better ;)
Wow you have ISO 3000 - thats totally kick ass.
Im stuck with ISO 400 - still I love my cam!
I didnt know that the Maxxum 7D had IS - thats great coz I bet you'll be paying the price for another cam when you buy a Lens with IS system.
Great stuff.
Cheers mate.

Thanks,
unfortunately I took the holly pic outside of the challenge dates, but I'll try and find something better. The DSLRs are definitely at an advantage here!
I'm looking forward to buying a very cheap and very high quality 50mm f1.7 lens, which the 7D is able to stabilise... something you can't get with a Nikon or Canon. |

Oh, now you're *really* showing off!
FYI, you can stabilise a 50mm lens with a Canon or Nikon, you just have to buy a rather unwieldy addon called a tripod! :P
Nice shots. Great colour on the holly.

Cool shots. Can you post some 100% crops of these high ISO photos? Noise kinda disappears when photos are resized down.

Please keep on showing off Bobster. Looks like the AS lives up to expections and the noise level at high ISO is right there with Canon's latest DSLRs.
Fresh snow on Christmas, I envy that.

I have been waiting for someone to show of "my" new camera that I have yet to purchase but I desperately want and need and will die soon if I don't get it. Look at your photos makes me think I need the camera NOW. But, I will have to wait for Uncle Sam to pay me back the money I loaned him. I don't suppose there is any chance that the price will go down in the next 30 day ...
Anyway Bob, wonderful! Congratulations and I hope to join your club very soon. |

If you had a good lens there is no need to shoot at ISO3200 really :D
I initially found cheap lenses good (my Nikon 70-300 for example), but for high quality prints they - in a word - suck big fat ass.
Good for general web stuff though, and perfect for DPC! Not so good for 12x8 landscapes.
BTW, like the 77's shots :D

Thanks again guys...
again, my current lenses are a stopgap... but there will be plenty of occasions where I will use ISO3200 with a 50mm 1.7 or 1.4 lens. |

Must be nice to not be limited to ISO80!
Pretty clean shots considering the shutter speeds and ISO.
