I've done it before - lots of fun and a good many photo opprtunities. About £15 per head for 70 minutes amphibious touring.

Sounds good but... given some people are short on funds and will already be spending a wad to get here I'd be keener if we could find cheaper activities OR ones that would cost around that much but last longer...

Just my thoughts though... it's up to everyone to weigh in on what we do!

City Hall aren't very photographer-friendly in my experience, and will want you to apply for a permit to shoot on the site - I've been hassled by security people there before, as have others I know of, even though there's no legal requirement to do so.

That`s a bummer; thought we might get some panoramics from the living room.

I also stumbled upon this site //www.londonopenhouse.org/ I know it`s a looonnng way away but maybe useful for another GTG in September. :)

I'd prefer not to be stuck in a bus, boat, car or train for very long. Just that whilst travelling its pretty difficult to get a decent photograph - ok for the tourists.

I prefer to walk or take short hops on the underground.

Just my opinion

Fair point...
I am the weakest link as I have arthritis in one hip which is sometimes worse than other times but that doesn't mean I can't walk just that I won't be able to keep going for hours or go at a fast pace...

SO any consensus on our ideas?

I not sure but people travelling down by train should be able to add a underground/bus pass on to the price.

Personally I would rather use the buses that the underground.

McD tastes like puke.

I will be arriving in London on the 4th and I was wondering if anyone is interested in going to the theater either the 4th or the 5th. I haven't decided what I wanna see yet but probably something along the lines of Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.

Not for me thanks, but you're welcome to stay at my place...

Bobster's got first dibs on the spare room as he asked first but you and the other mystery American asked next so there's floorspace available should you want it!

I'd be well up for that... I really enjoyed the show on TV. Not quite so sure about the 2nd half, but the 1st half will be looked on as one of the greatest post-modern classics of our time.

I can't see myself liking Jerry Springer the Musical unless some unspeakable violence befalls our hero.
