Don't worry about the girlfriend you can pick one up when you're down here, and if you survive the journey, the gun-toting drug dealers and the scary traffic you can relax with a pint in an historic city where the atmosphere is 5 parts oxygen, 5 parts carbon monoxide. We'll all be wearing breathing masks too so you won't feel out of place if you bring one with you.

Did I mention that you're never more than 30ft from a rat in central London?...

:D

Now this is pretty sad, but I had spent many years wanting to see a rat. I went 28 years including living and working in London for quite a few years and never got to see a rat.

Now I have seen 3 in 6 months in Harpenden x2 and Hatfield x 1

Pretty stupid thing to get excited by, but well that's me.

following some PM's with Kavey, I would love to come.

I'm probably half an hour from Ben so would be happy to give him a lift.
although I'm not as pretty as his girlfriend....

I saw rats almost every time I went on the tube... you can see them scurry away down on the tracks when the next train is nearby.

They keep rats there because people who don't like rats wouldn't jump. Just another way to save lives.

And avoid commuter misery.

Just a note re possible photo route, there are works in progress to westminster bridge lots of corrigated panels along the bridge, big crane on floating barge etc and some works along the south bank west of the bridge, rather spoils some of the views of Westminster from the County Hall side. A minor point but might be worth noting.
Also no south bound Jubilee line from westminster at present, although it's easy enough to walk to other stations.

Interesting way of looking at it LOL

The 'rats' on the Underground are mice. The rats are noticably larger - around 1ft in length!

Hi guys/girls, I'm new here but will definitely make an effort to be there in March. I'm in Central London so will have no problems whatever the venue. I'll be bringing my better half with me.

Have been here for 3 years and never had the privilege of seeing a rat on the underground, lol. Lots of mice though.

Cheers,
Tolli.

Thats a really kind offer! Thank you very much. Of course I'll put a little money towards travel expenses for you. I'll have a little think but it looks like I may be coming afterall :)

Artan, Avatar - glad to have you on board!

Ben! YAY! I'm sure the offer from Manic, BearMusic and I still stands.

I have added friends/ partners to the original list and included Bod's partner too, I know he has mentioned to me in PM that she's coming too.

Looks like 12 definites and almost the same in possibles.

At some point I'll need to know whether those possibles are coming or not as with so many of us meeting we'll need to book somewhere for lunch but that's not a worry yet.

This is gonna be FUN!

Sadly I can't make the 5th March. You've cunningly managed to choose the one weekend in 2005 where I have something planned. :(

Unfortunately I'll be in Weston Super Mare with many aged relatives that day.

Bod! Stop looking at my bottom... it's large enough to create a lunar eclipse and is feeling somewhat self-conscious!

June, I don't know any good and inexpensive Indian restaurants in central London... I know Chinese ones and also the bistro-like Browns on St Martin's Lane...

OH and I just read that Westminster Pier is to be closed till end March so that might scupper some of our nascent plans...?

If you want to avoid the roads and obstacles (at least some of the way) then we could always go an a Duck Tour.

I've done it before - lots of fun and a good many photo opprtunities. About £15 per head for 70 minutes amphibious touring.
