Just a quick question.

Do you have to be shooting in Raw mode for custom curves to be used? Or do custom curves work with jpeg also?

Thanx All : )

I don't see why they wouldn't work in JPG. I haven't used custom curves yet (but need to), but I know dacrazyrn does, so he should be able to comment.

The custom curve affects both JPEG and RAW.

I use the white wedding curve in camera and shoot only RAW, all my EXIFs show custom curve applied. The orginal intent for custom curves however I think was geared to JPEG only.

Thank you plenty, I will load that thing up and see what comes from it.

Since im asking, Ill ask another question. On my box is says I get a 2 year warranty for the D70, yes my two warranty cards (body and lens) say one year at the back, whats the deal with that? Anyone have experience with this? Did I not recieve a 2 year warranty card?

HEY! You guys talking about me again, behind my back!? LOL
As Arcanist mentioned...me the same. I have mine set to it (in Custom), but I have been shooting almost totally in RAW for the last 3-4 months, so I do most of my adjustments there.
It does great for jpg in my experience though (the White Weding curve), through the midtones. And it is noticeable even on the LCD of the camera. Load it up and try it out.
Set up the camera to shoot in a certain way (default) and use the default (Normal) curve in Optimize Image menu. (I went through all of them, right down the line to see what each setting did-ie-Porrait, Landscape, etc,). Don't change anything else and then change it to the Custom (will then go to a new menu) and set those to what 'normal" should be, and be sure the Tone Comp is on Custom (!). Take a shot and compare it to the rest. I liked it...ALOT!
Now if there is a new one that comes out, I am screwed, because I don't use the stupid Nikon Capture. )C;

Not sure about the warranty card thing

Thank You Tracy : )
I loaded up the Point & Shoot Curve (formerly white wedding)
and the shots are much nicer.

Damn, what kind of warranty card did everyone get in the box with their D70?
