This post has nothing to do with photography; however since many of you run your own websites, I figured I would ask anyway.

This afternoon, I cleaning out my log files from Apache when my server just died. My server is pretty old so it canĂ¢€™t handle large text documents. I was wondering if any of you have any methods for emptying a log file without using a text editor (maybe something through DOS?)

(BTW..im running windows 2000 on it)

thanks

Um, I could do it on Unix/Linux in a snap.
I think the easiest way in DOS would be to copy a new empty file over it, or save an empty file over it from notepad.

Edit: If the file is locked, then you're looking for something along the lines of echo "" > file_to_overwrite.log
