I would highly recommend keeping all originals...For every photo that makes it into my portfolio I have at least 4 files.
1) The original out of camera
2) At least 1 .psd file with all layers intact
3) A full size, edited version with layers flattened (.jpg)
4) A small version (longest side 750 pix) for putting on the net or e-mailing to a friend or using as my desktop background for a few days.

Soon as I saw this challenge posted I knew what photo I was gonna enter (even out of 10G+). My fav from last year. Hope it'll do well, because this will be a very tough challenge.
Anyhow I'm in, with 195 other DPC'er.
