I just put some photos up in my portfolio & on DPC Prints. I would like some thoughts and opinions.
This is a photo of a red macaw at a friend's house. I liked the way the sun came under the trees and backlit the bird.
A shot of the sun just peaking over the trees, I was impressed by the glassy reflection off the water.
I liked the way the rays of the sun caught the last of the morning mist and the shadows the palm frongs created.
Those are my thoughts, I would like to hear what you think...

Oh my god, I love that parrot photo!!! I love parrots in general, but the photo is lovely and the colours....
I like the last one too, but am not keen of the cube cropping, maybe it would come out nicer as panoramic...dunno?
But the parrot.....perfect!!! |

Thanks for the nice comment about the parrot. I enjoy taking photos of them, because they are so colorful... I would appreciate if anyone else has any thoughts...

The shot of the sun is magical. I like that one alot. Pure euphoria, and it shows me on a daily basis the love the sun gives us all daily.

With the parrot i would zoom out (or step away) a little and move the camera to the right, so that the parrot's head is somewhere around the golden section and so that you don't have to cut off the tail, if possible. Also, levels of blue seem to be too high. The piece of wood looks too blueish. If you set level of blue to .83 or somewhere there in photoshop, it looks a lot more natural imo. Otherwise a neat moment.
The sunset is pretty boring imho. Totally centered composition just underscores the fact. And it seems that the focus is somewhat off. And the water surface is very noisy, i don't think those are jpeg artifacts.
On the bottom one the blueish tint on the leaves in the shade looks weird. It's not strong enough to pretend it's something surreal, yet it's still there, so it just looks weird. Also the sky is not interesting at all. The light rays and shadows are very cool, though. Perhaps with different framing it would have been a much more appealing shot.
All my very subjective and completely biased opinions, since you asked. HTH. |
