I'm a bit disappointed about my score in the 'Pets and their People' challenge (86th or so). I just wanted to know whether this picture would have done any better. It's from the same shooting.

It's a much more appealing image, but the gerbil/hamster/rodent thingie is is too out-of-focus.

I named it Firefox 2.0 because my first entry was called Firefox. The outtake would be like a second version of it...Someone of the site council fixed the title anyways :)
So, any other thoughts about the outtake?

| I would go for the outtake, although I like the composition of the first one. But the outtake appeals to me as a happier image and a better interaction between the two "beings" :) |

I personally prefer the outtake although the hamster is out of focus. I would have submitted the other picture but discovered its potential only when it was too late.
So, are emotions more important than the technical aspects in such a challenge? The first entry mainly relies on crop and post processing, the first one's not so good technically speaking but more emotional.
What should I look for in future submissions?
