What if DPChallenge had a way that users could send their suggestions to DPC other than through the forums, example:
Next to ‘My Home’ under the ‘Challenges’ menu DPC could add to the drop box to include ‘Challenge Suggestions’.
Then any user could click on ‘Challenge Suggestions’ and it would email DPC with your challenge suggestion. Here is how it could be done
1. User clicks ‘Challenges’ menu
2. Then clicks ‘Challenge Suggestion’
3. It would open up email to be sent to DPC
4. In the subject line the user would put his or her suggestion
5. Then in the email body they could give a description
I think this would help DPC because they could look at the emails and see the ‘challenge suggestion’ in the subject line. Then if they find it interesting they could open the email and review the description.
I don̢۪t know what the process is now and I am not complaining about the challenges. I just think this would be a good tool for users to suggest challenges and a good tool for DPC to review them. I believe it would be far better than just discussing them in a forum.
What do you think?

That might save the Site Council or whoever choses the challenges some work. At least if they currently consider those posted in the forum.

The major benefit to the forums is the ability to see the amount of times a post has been viewed by the members. This helps gauge popularity and invites comment. Picking challenges isn't just about finding something interesting, it's about finding something that is interesting to the general public. That can be hard and those pages views must help in some way. |

I'm not saying do away with the forum. People still could post as they do today about challenge suggestions. An email link option would be an added benefit. |

This would probably result in a lot of duplicate suggestions... also posts in the forums often trigger additional ideas or refinement of the original idea.
In the end, I expect an email submission process would create more work for less benefit... plus there currently exists no method on the site for emailing Site Council.
