I just wanted to post the outakes from the photoshoot i took for pets & people with my snake Ivory. It turned out to be a very productive shoot. The man behind the camera is Labuda. we set up a sheet of glass for the snake, used an external flash bounced off a white cardboard set up above the snake. then we had fun. Props to buro for his help too.

***some have him eating, not meant for people revolted by snakes.

<----- my fav. didnt think i should submit though...

this one was the day before, but i really liek how it came out

Comments and criticisms always welcome.

these are all great shots - amazing detail on the snake. oddly enough, i prefer all of these shots to the one you entered. i feel that the human/pet element is more well balanced in each of these (that you're in, at least) than in the one you submitted - although i also agree with your choice to not submit the ones involving the small mouse - that definitely would not have gone over well at this site. that being said, maybe you did submit the best one.

really like the second one.

I love snakes...wonderful, I find the one amusing with the fat mouse being fed to the "slim" snake :)

IMO, you really should have submitted the one with the mouse being eaten.

yeah, but that one required editing. there was some missplacement in the floor the snake was on and it really didnt look good. same goes for the one where hes about to grab the mouse (the third one). basic editing wasnt enough.

I was surprised the one you submitted didn't do better- it was nice to see something a little different than kittens and puppies.

I think there is a certain amount of bias here in the voting. I think there are a number of people who will vote you down because they don't like the subject matter, regardless of the quality of the photograph. Snakes are a subject that promotes such a response. I see it all the time when doing educational programs using reptiles.

That people are so shallow that they will let their personal bias get in the way of looking at an image objectively is really the only gripe I have with a venue such as this. But I guess it is a mirror of the world....
