I've recently come across CopperMine, a user-based photo gallery engine based on PHP and MySQL, and started using it on my photo site. Has anyone else used CopperMine before and/or have any good themes for it? :o)
If you're seriously considering starting your own photo gallery website, then I can highly recommend this software - it allows you to upload via http (from your computer or another website url), theme the entire look and feel of the site, control user access, classify galleries, and have anonymous and/or user comments and ratings. Funky stuff, if you need something more heavyweight than the likes of PHP Gallery...

I've used it and still use it on the local network, but don't really have anything developed for it. It is the best of the free ones i've found. Was looking specifically for PHP with mysql backend.
edit: and i like coppermine a lot better than PHP Gallery for anumber of reasons.

My husband and I have used copper mine for a long time. I like it. It is easy enough for me to use and navigate.
Don't ask me any techie questions, though. I just follow the instruction my husband gave me! :-)

Why everyone uses the same theme?! :-D
I use coppermine on my site, too. I like it. I just never got around to upload images there. It also integrates into phpBB quite nicely, too.

If you use phpBB, make sure to upgrade to the latest and greatest for security reasons. |

Woo, more people than I expected! I think most people use the 'Rainy Day' theme due to it's simplicity and the fact that the photo pages are a neutral grey (good for viewing photos against) rather than the slightly outlandish colours of some of the other default themes...

I use the theme with black bg, don't know what it's called. Mostly 'cause i never got around to changing that to dark gray... And a lot of those themes are, unfortunately, too bright or too colorful. |

I have used coppermine before and also customized it a little to get rid of what i considered unwanted buttons/frames/text. I think i have the simple white background. You can take a look here . My coppermine gallery
I haven't uploaded on that site in some time.
I started using another free flash software and then another gallery. This is my new Gallery using simpleviewer

I have used it with 1and1 in the past and yes, there was a minor issue. I don't remember exactly what it was, but there was a line of code that needed to be slightly altered. If I recall, I found the answer in the coppermine FAQ with a little digging.
