Is the border on this effective or gimmicky? Does the photo work?

The border doesn't do much for me, but I rarely like borders. I like the shot...might try cropping a little off the left (the dark part): an uncentered subject is generally more interesting.

I can hardly notice the border, so I would say that it isn't effective :)

Maybe on a daylight scene. The wide screen frame may be very effective with a landscape scene.

I don't see a border, other than the black bars attempting a letterbox? I tried that on my Framing entry. As expected, it got mixed responses.

Okay, it was an attempt at letterbox...the photo is 16:9 ratio and the entire image is 4:3...same as watching widescreen on a regular tv.

The photo is supposed to contrast the harsh neon letters and their message with the warmth of the reflected neon light behind the sign on the right side of the photo. The sign was purposefully centred, hoping to lead to the warm colours.

XXX Films sign, letterbox 'frame', titled "Behind the Scenes" in reference to the warmth behind the harsh front.

I was unsure if this photo worked...guess not!

Thanks everyone...
