I've just inherited an SB-23 and a Vivitar 2000 flash unit. They don't have any sync inputs, but I'd like to use them all at once with my SB-600 anyway.
I was thinking of putting together a circuit with a phototransitor at one end, a potentiometer in the middle to control the gain, and basically connect the other end directly to the hot shoe connectors on both flash units.
Simple enough, but I was wondering how I could control the flash output on both flashes. There are 4 terminals on the SB-23 input. I've tested them: one triggers a full discharge, the other triggers a quick discharge (around 6 stops lower), while the two others can be used as ground.
I used a 7 volt signal. Are the discharges controlled via an analog signal or a digital one?
Anyone know how to control these flashes electronically?
The Vivitar has a manual mode and 2 automatic modes. The Sb-23 has a manual and a ttl mode.
