Has any one got the 70-210D or non D lense that they are using? I'd really like to get some feedback on these as I have the opertunity to buy one.
Also the AF 75-240 D, I find it hard to get any info on at all.
Thanks
Bob

You've probably already seen Ken Rockwell's review of the 70-210 D lens - I bought one off of eBay after reading about it. I should have it on Wednesday.

I have a 70-210D that I originally got with my old Nikon 6006. I've recently upgraded to the D70, and taken just a few shots with it, but it seemed to work fine. You have to set the aperture to it's minimum setting in order for the automatic aperture control to work (otherwise you get an FEE error message), but other than that, I've had no problems with it.
As for how it compares to other lenses, I'm not really the right person to ask. I don't recall that it was the most expensive lense at the time that I bought it, if price is any guide.

Yeah I have read that review, How much did you pay? There is one going that has just been serviced but it is a "non D" model and will cost $250 au dollars but comes with 6 months guarantee from the service shop.

I used "Buy It Now" and got it for $295 (US). $307 with shipping. I'm pretty excited about that, they've been going for $300-$425 in the last couple weeks. $250 AU sounds like a good deal, but I would hold out for the D.

I have the NON D version of the 70-210, and its a good lens. I Use it with both my film based FM2 and my D70. I also have a G type 70-300, which doesn't come anywhere close.
The only complaint is the AF noise level, which is quite high. Also, its a long way round from closest focus to infinity, so its quite slow in comparison to S type lenses.
There is currently one in my local camera shop for £115, they seem to be cheap and easily available second hand in the UK |
