Looking for clarification please. Have found some answers in forums, but not specifically to this question.

Is it legal to use the simple 'One Step Photo Fix' under the Adjust menu choices in Paint Shop Pro for challenge photos?

I know it is very amateurish perhaps to use this basic tool, but there have been a couple of times when I was quite happy with the results and would have happily submitted a challenge photo after applying this adjustment. Instead I used it as a motivator to learn the other tools (curves, levels, etc...).

Again, thanks for the feedback.

For member challenges it would probably be fine. For open challenges it would depend on whether the effect was changing only some parts of the photo and not others. For that you might want to break it down into several autofix steps like auto-levels, auto-contrast etc.

Just my thoughts. Someone from the SC will probably have more info for you.

Thanks. This adjustment applies to the entire image automatically. Since no selections are made it doesn't appear to adjust the image selectively.

Edit: Added the following...

There was a comment in the following "How'd They Do That" that made me think about using the automated adjustment features of the software.

Excerpt from the "How'd They Do That" article.

Because of the flash, the picture looked a little too bright to me, I "auto-equalized" it, resulting in a slightly darker picture. No futher manual level-adjustments were needed.

It should be fine under the Basic Rules as well because of the Post-shot Adjustment clause:

Post-shot Adjustments may be made to your image in a photo editing program, so long as the modification is applied to the whole image.

Just for my own educational purposes, which version of PSP are you using?

That sounds like a neat little feature. Maybe I should look at upgrading, sometime.

Thanks
