I know it̢۪s not a great photo but I was trying the mystical effect in the background while keeping the framed threes in the foreground normal as if you were to walk through to another land. Any advice or critiques welcome.

I think the combination of processed and non-processed elements in the picture creates a contradiction that does not compute. I would just 'mistify' the whole picture, the framing effect wouldn't be lost.

Edit: here is my take on processing:

Thank you. That does look better. I will try and see if I can produce the same. Again Thanks

Personally... I liked the first version much more.
It had more details in it, especialy the red leaves on the ground.
I agree that the processed and non-processed elements together look a bit weird but I would suggest just adding some softness to the stems in the foregroung.
Also, I find the less contrasted image to be more pleasing to the eye. Since the background has some very light spots of the sun comming in - I didn't like the dark blacks around it.

your concept is good, but i think the trees do not work well with this particular idea.. rather than realizing that it's a "different world", they just make the picture seem somewhat off balance - likes something's odd and you can't necessarily put your finger on it. perhaps if we could see a more significant distinction. not sure how this may exactly be done, but that's my take on it.
