OK, so I didn't shoot a Bee, but I did get a photo of one coming in to land..
I was messing about on the front porch, and caught this fella landing. You can probably guess how many photos I got that were really out of focus, but I didn't want to stop down to increase the DOF, as you loose the bee in the background if you do that.
I thought it was kinda cool anyway.
This is about 2/3rds of the full image, cropped for artistic taste. (mine that is, you might hate it...)
Cheers, Chris H. |

It's unfortunate that the brightest and sharpest element in this is the blossom lower left. It's a fun picture, but that's about it. Shoot a thousand more and the been may cooperate on one of them :-)

1000, is that all?
I took around 300 shots, and got 5 with the bee in the air and in focus, the rest had sitting bees (to late, landed), no bee (to late, left already), blurred bee (gone out of DOF), sitting bee (Premature shutter release), half bee (oops, sorry Mr Bee)....
Still, it's not a bad way to pass the time of day.. :-).

I think it's a great picture. I realy love it.
The bee is in wonderful focus and it attracts the eye right away.
This picture gave me a feeling of a pleasent and warm saturday (or for you it would probably be a sunday) afternoon.
A feast for the eye.

Perhaps its not perfect, but wow! How did you manage to focus on something so tiny that moves so fast?
How about some honey on your camera? Might see it come towards us next time!! *g*
Great shot, Chris. |

Pre-focusing on a bit of the plant with bee on it, and then wait for the bee to move... ie: random luck.
