Hi there!. I've been around for a while looking at all the great photos on this site, and only now have managed the guts to try to upload something. I do want an honest critique on this one.
Thanks.

I like the shot and think it is good! However I find the shadow at the bottom and the one on the left from top to bottom to be distracting. I think this is something that can be solved by cropping out a little off the left side and a third of the bottom. I was also wondering what it would look like in B&W with some noise. I hope you donĂ¢€™t mind I copied you photo and played with it a little to see if what I said above would work. Here it is, what do you think?

I played a little too. The lines on the wall suggest a little rotating was needed (1.2 degrees CCW). Cropping the way SDW65 did would that out of the equation as well.
This kind of light is difficult to expose, and most efforts to even out the shadows will usually just result in a flat looking photo. I'd prefer to see you emphasize the shadows and make it really contrasty (I'm biased towards contrasty candids anyway). The significant amount of yellow on the wall will also throw a yellow cast on the rest of the image, which you can either try to eliminate - with a filter or PS colour shift - or as I did in my version emphasize.
It's a cool foto...good eye.

Thanks a lot Guys! I really like both the versions. But I guess I'm sort of leaning towards the colour version. I think the crop was necessay. I'll foool around some more and see what happens. Thanks again. |
