I am very pleased with my 17th on Wind challenge

Seems to be the best Flag(s) entry ;)
I want to thank for all the comments. I am very thankful to graphickfunk (and proud to have such a nice comment from him)
Regarding the crop opinions I would like to post the uncropped version and ask for your oppinion.

Thanks for your time.
PS This was my last shot with my
Canon A70 before sending it to be repaired or burried :(

My "Santa Crosswind Landing"finished #183. What do I get from this? Well 8 out 10 commentors got a smile or chuckle out of the picture. That is a good enough result for me.

I thought it was a very good photo. One of the top ones in the challenge IMO. Gave it a 7. I like it cropped better. Congrats.

Tiberius;

That's actually a very interesting comparison. Thanks for posting it. Why is it interesting? Because as a rule of thumb, images that depend on a strong linear quality for their flow work best in a rectilinear format. As a rule, cropping a linear image to square will work against it.

However, that's not the case in this photo. Why? As far as I can puzzle it out, the linear element is still very strong, so it survives, but the square cropping serves to emphasize the turbulence of the flags in the wind. Which, of course, was the point of the challenge.

Nice image. I missed it when I plowed through commenting (my first day on the site) or I'd have rated it a 9, I think.

Robt.
