Hey Ribbon Winners:
Is there any consistency to when you submit your images to challenges? Is it shortly after the challenge is announced, right before the submission period ends, or all over the board? How much time do you generally spend thinking about the shot, taking it, and post processing it?
I figure there's gotta be something we mortals can learn from this info.

ahaze,
I spend the most time coming up with the idea (everything from 10min to 5 days), then setup is normally between 20min to 2hours, taking the actual photo is from everything from 2min to 2hours, and post processing takes roughly 10-30min. I normally make 3-4 different shots, and try to pick the one that I think will do the best. Almost never submit until the last day.. |

I'm not a ribbon winner... but I submit...
"When it's done." |

I only won one. Probably cause I always submit last minute. I don't have time to obsess over which one of hundreds of pictures is best. I usually choose my favorite of the few I shoot "in camera". Guess I'm just plain lazy.

Im not a ribbon winner but my top rated image waz thought of as soon as I read the description, got my camera, pointed and shoot, downloaded to computer, small adjustment and first to submit (all within 20mins)

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask if a picture has to receive a number of votes to qualify for a ribbon. |

Sometimes I submit the first day... which sucks cos you have to wait twice as long to find out the results! Most of the time I submit at the weekend. If my shot is accidental (Like my Music ribbon, wasn't aware there was a Music challenge until I got home!) then I'll take it at any random point in the week, hehe :)

The way things are going with my latest entry, I should have tried to submit after the submission deadline.... |

I don't have a system, but my 3 ribbon winners were not last day submissions (more like mid-week) ... but I'm also not convinced that one thing has anything to do with the other.
Same topic, but a side note ... I believe many of my submissions have suffered because I'm impatient. Taking more time during setup, taking more shots, and spending more time post processing could have help me a ton, I think. |
