Hi! It's been a awhile since I had shot anything but I went out tonight to a friend's concert who gave me a backstage, (on stage) photographer pass! Now that was waaay coool... It was my first time photographing a concert (besides when they where playing in the garage 10 years ago!) Here are some shots.

I like the gritty, earthiness of the shots. B&W was the right choice and they are full of energy.

Great stuff, keep taking them like those!

Cool shots... personally I think I would have preferred these in colour. I'm sure you could have NeatImaged some of the noise out if that was the reason you converted.

I took 266 pictures total. The first say 50 that I took (while my friend was playing) I took in colour. At the show I wanted to see what I had so far.
For some reason, in the lcd monitor, I seemed to get more exposure in B/W. Later, when I got home and downloaded them, the color ones weren't that bad (not as underexposed) as I thought they'de be. I shot the rest of the show in B/W 'till I got backstage.
I'll post some color ones later, I got to get to bed! It's 7:30am here, I'v been on my computer since I got back at 3:30am! So good night all!

Why not shoot everything in color, then you can convert to B&W later? That's the nice thing about digital, you can basically shoot both at once. :)

Here are some color ones, it seems I get less exposure in colour? Could anyone tell me what I should've done?

Bump! Let's try this with the evening crowd.

It looks to me that your camera's metering was fooled because of your position under the stage and facing the bright and harsh lights. In addition, I would also say that in that venue where you have a large amount of darkness with smaller, but brigher areas, depending on your metering mode and exposure mode, you're also going to get wrong readings, or at the least, readings that you're going to have to compensate for in one way or another.

What exposure and metering modes were you using? One thing I think is important is to position yourself when shooting so that a performer is either in front of a stage light so it's blocked out and not affecting the meter reading, and also using a lens hood (don't know if there is one for your camrera though). I've shot once in a similar venue, although it wasn't a concert, and got much better results when I used spot metering off of the performers face and adjusted exposure compensation to the effect I wanted.

I really like Anonymous I the best followed by Ghoulanatics IV. They are great shots, although I think that Anon I is lacking in better tonality. Hope this helps.
