I noticed this Robin on a bench near me in the Lakes, I was wonde3ring if I could get a critique as it's my first wildlife photograph.

Nicely done Anthony, pesky little fellas to catch.
Background blur is acceptable,good shot.

The background is free from distractions and the ledge has a diagonal. I think a little more contrast may bring him/her out of the background a little more. You've also put him/her in the center of the image, which isnt horrid but it can be a little more dynamic off on a third or even cropped a little past his/her tail. With the crop you also partly eliminate the slight shadow on the ledge. You've also lost some feather detail on the chest with the blown highlights, but the catchlight in the eye is good.
A cute little guy and a good first attempt. Photographing small birds can be quite difficult, especially without a long telephoto lens. |
