My pic for 'Yellow Revisited" was disqualified after voting ended and after my submitting the original. The reason given re: date taken and EXIF
don't seem to apply. Am I missing something or has this happened before.
I like the restrictions as they make for better results.
Is there a way to follow up?

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "don't seem to apply." If you are confused as to why your photo was DQed, feel free to contact any member of the SC for further info.

You were DQd for a date violation, namely your camera's datestamp put the photo as taken in 2002. Since this is obviously before the challenge started, we had no choice but to DQ - this is why the rules state in bold text:

"To avoid the possibility of disqualification be sure to check that the date and time on your camera are set correctly before taking any pictures you may use as challenge entries. We will no longer accept this as an excuse. You have been forewarned."

I see. My fault for not reading fully. I thought the properties of the photo, which show the 'creation' date as the night of the deadline, was enough. That was the most work I put into one photo. It seems that day that everything was trying to stop me but I got it done. Now this. It's really pretty funny.
