I was just looking at the old entries and i saw that there was a tie on 2nd place on the "At Work" challenge, and it passes from 2nd place to forth. as there being a 3rd place shouldn't it recieve a ribbon?

No, the results are correct. Because of the tie, there are two 2nd place ribbons, and no 3rd place (yellow ribbon).

This is the "typical" way that ties are handled in scored competitions.

I thought the typical way was that there are two 3rds and no 2nd (like at the Olympics)...I could be wrong...

Nope. That would mean that a tie for first place would mean "no gold medals, only silver" and that is certainly not the case. If you read the story, you'll see that two golds were issued, and a bronze for third.
