my apologies, at the time I was not thinking about changing the score of my photo.

Atually, I like your photo and think it meets the challenge, however, I don't think it's fair or appropriate to post about your photo here until the votes are over.

If people get or don't get your challenge, that's their prerogative, and it's not really sportsmanlike to try and influence voting whilst it's still on.

My POV anyway.

I think your photo fits the challenge fine, but I think it's probably unfair for you to criticize other people's comments/ratings of your photo, since you've participated in 3 challenges and have not cast a single vote nor written a single comment. As Kavey pointed out, it's also inappropriate to post about your photo during the challenge.

I hope you get some thick skin quickly. I hate to see people bothered so much by others opionions. Just remember that someone will love it and someone will hate it. Keep takeing pictures that YOU like.

My POV also.
a1leyez0nm3: As for judging photos on personal interests, unfortunately I would think that, to an extent, all phtoto judging is done based on an individuals personal interests and personal experiences. This goes for emotional content and well as technical. You may have 2 people who are really into cars and like yours but the person that gives you a '10' may not have any past experience critiquing photographs or art and may just think it looks "cool" and then you may get a '3' from someone who is looking past their love of the car and into the technical aspects of the photo itself like proper exposure, color balance, framing, etc.. On the flip side, you may have people who have no interest in cars and find the subject uninteresting and while person 'A' may take it at face value and rate it a "3", another person may look beyond the fact that the car isn't interesting to them but see that your efforts show a lot of good technical qualities and give you a "10". So, I would try not to get upset about it and just keep in mind that there are over 3000 members on the site and over 3000 different levels of ability and experience too, which are all going into judging you photos.
Good luck in this, and future, challenges though.

Sorry if my reply to your post seemed a little harsh, there has been a lot of discussion recently about the way that posting about a photo in the current challenge can influence vote.
I apologise profusely for implying that you were behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner.
Please forgive me.
I have emailed you with this same message.

a1leyez0nm3:

I also agree with Kavey, that photos and their authors should not be revealed before the end of the challenge.

That said, I would like to say not to take your scores to much to heart. I don't know what you consider "low", but if you look back at the results of the former challenges, you'll see nobody has gotten a perfect score (10), and the last challenge was won by a score of slightly over 6.8.

So, if you are getting a score in the 4's or 5's range, that "ain't so bad!"

Congratulations on entering your first pic, and I hope to see many more of your photos here. My 13 year old granddaughter just entered her first photo, too, and I hope everyone has been "polite" in their comments while being "honest" at the same time!

I'm sorry, I shouldnt have criticized the comments/ratings of other people, and I shouldnt have posted whilst voting was still going. Kavey, don't worry it's fine. I shouldn't have posted in the manner that I did. I was simply frustrated at the time with many of the comments that people have made with various photos, not only my photos, but also photos across the site, but that gave me no excuse.

Sadly, there seem to be a few posters who are somewhat immature (and unsurprisingly, age has nothing to do with it) who seem to think it's fun to leave comments along the lines of "This sucks" and so on.
I think that's not only incredibly rude and also must be disheartening for those submitting photos, but it shows a lack of imagination, intelligence and courtesy.
I hope you know that comments like that say more about the people making them than they do about your photograph.
I really look forward to seeing your next photo.
(I will get round to getting into digital myself sometimes and submitting too).
