I am surprised at how many photos are getting disqualified by not having the date and time set correctly on the camera. One of the very best things about digital cameras is they put a data and time stamp on every photo they take. Having recently scanned a LOT of photos, from negatives, the one thing I miss the most is a date and time stamp.

The point being is that DPC insisting that we get the data and time set right is doing us all a favor in forcing up to do something that is to our benefit beyond just getting a photo into a challenge.

I really have to wonder what percentage of digital cameras never get their data and time set. I was talking to our neighbor and saying how much I like having the date and time imbedded in every photo I take. Her response was âOh, so your one of those people who set the clock on their cameraâ.

I have run into this with my parents, they sent me some photos from their digital camera and the date and time had not been set.

Trust me going back 20 years and trying to figure out even what year a photo was taken can be a pain. So set your cameraâs data and time, not just for the challenge rules but also for yourself 20 years from now.

BTW I have messed up myself on this from time to time. There was a month long trip we took and for the first two weeks or so the date was not set on the camera, I still donât know how that happened.

Is that one possible cause?

Often, if the main batteries are out of the camera for minute or two, like when you are changing batteries and are briefly interrupted, the clock will reset to the default/initial date. Basically, you probably ought to check the date whenever you change batteries.

You are probably right about it happened when I changed the batteries. My new camera seems better about this but I really wish it would show me the date and time in the view finder. This would help remind me to change the time when I cross time zones, something I am always forgetting to do.
