As so many people here suggested Neat Image to get rid of too much noise, I downloaded it and tried to use it as a plugin for Paint Shop Pro 9. However, PSP can't find it. I specified the new file location (even though the NI folder is inside PSP's plugin subdirectory). I put EyeCandy4k into the same directory and PSP found it immediately. The NI help suggests to manually chose the .nbf file which should be in the installation folder. There is no such file.
I searched the Jasc forums and the NI forums, but couldn't find anybody with the same problem. Can anybody help me?

Did you purchase a full version? I could be wrong here, but I believe the free download only works as freestanding, not as plug-in.

I have only the demo. The plan in the help file says 'Advanced Photoshop action' is not supported for the demo version of the plugin. Does that mean that the plugin doesn't work in the demo?

AFAIK, the plug-in is only included with the "Pro" version of NI. Teh beauty of the plug-in, of course, is being able to run NI on only the parts of an image that needs it.

Does the plug-in support paint shop pro ? I thought it was just photoshop.

The help file shows ways to install the plugin for both Photoshop and Paintshop, doesn't mention any limitations though.
Well, I guess I'll have to get along with the standalone version... I can't afford spending even more on software.

So is this a demo/pro issue or is something wrong with my settings?

It's definitely a demo vs. full verison issue. Also bear in mind that the demo will only save images with etremely high compression (lots of artifacts). I would not use the demo version for anything but just that, a demo.

This chart shows that only the Home+ or the Pro+ versions work as a plug-in, NOT the demo version.

Thanks for the explanation. I had misunderstood that very chart. Too bad...
