43 shots already...good work. How's it going so far? Are you pleased with your initial shots?

Ordered mine last night from Cameta...hope to have it by the end of next week :o)

Happy shooting!

Yep, very pleased with it so far. I need to learn how to maximize use of the different scene modes, but the detail I'm seeing is really incredible. Couldn't be happier.

Here's another, though it would appear something happened to it in transit from my computer to DPC. On my pc it's 43k, here it's only 22k and the colors aren't as incredible as the one on my pc.

If you're using Photoshop: When you save it as a .jpeg, save it at the highest quality. It should ask you to choose, from a scale of 1-12. Also, you might want to change your color profiles to sRGB, since the web displays colors in sRGB.

Geez, I have never wanted a dSLR - too complex for me, but you said you are using scene/auto modes? Oh, dear, now I want one. GREAT shots!

I've got some bad news for you then, all of the popular dSLR's have 'scene' modes.. It's only the likes of the EOS 1D (ds, mkII etc) that don't have the 'dummy' modes, so to speak.

It's a good thing though, it means my wife can use the 20D.. she just switches it to full-Auto when she picks it up.. My old film SLR's used to leave her cold... She's quite arty, but not a technical person at all, and I don't think she ever took a good photo with any of my old film gear, but she's already got some good photos from the 20D.

Cheers, Chris H.

Color profile is sRGB, and if I save it at full quality the file is huge. For just posting a copy here I didn't want to use up a bunch of space, so I only saved it at about 5. Even at that level it still looks many times better (the orange is much more orange) when viewing it on my hard drive. Oh well.

use File, Save for Web -- then it won't store useless information in the file to reduce size, and you can choose your compression 1 - 100 in increments of 1 -- instead of 1-12.
