Do you think that this looks too much like a tourist postcard?
As always, if anyone wants to have a play...feel free |

Interesting. Not sure i lke the sky - strikes me as purple and looks like it was put in behind the skyline. The domw of hte main bulding is a bit bright. not sure about the composition...the sky got my attention and overall it seems a tad oversharpened, so i am distracted...has an appeal to it though, sorta painting like.

Thanks for your comments Chris.
All of my Venice photos finish up looking like paintings..
Just the way I see the place I suppose.
Point taken about the sky though...I must go back to reshoot! |

Leave it to me to be the odd man (or in this case, woman) out . . . but I really love the look you have in these. I think it creates a photographic image that transcends the way we see our world in passing each day. I personally love them, and there are a few other photographers on DPC who have similar techniques that I enjoy so much. So I hope you don't turn away from these if you like them.

Thanks Kyle
As a matter of fact, I have recenty dumped my entire DPC portfolio as it was full of stuff that I posted to appeal to others. I saw a couple of images in the luky 7 challenge
And
These images were (in my opinion) more than pictures, they are statements of the photographers ideas. A personal statement.
I decided that my portfolio should only contain images that express "my" impressions of the world. I will not turn away from that.
Glad you like them

I would prefer different point of view with natural framing or leading lines.Sky color is weird and try fixing the camera white balance next time :-) |

There is a lot of truth in the saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my humble opinion, I immidiatly fell in love with your Colors of Venice. To me that is the real art of photography, to capture what you see and how you see it. It's obvious some other people won't see it that way, and that is OK.
I now live in this 2-world paradigm... taking pictures that THEY may like and taking pictures that I like.
You did a great job of art.

Very well said. Then there is this terrible grey area I find myself in - many of my photos aren't what I would really like to be doing, but they are the best I can do right now, where I am. That's why I love being able to see all the great work here by photographers who are capturing some of those visions.

my thoughts on your photo...
it looks allright... it looks like your burned the buildings a little too much though and they have gone a bit grey.... when they are white... or is it just me.

Regarding Venice....
If mankind is created in the image of God..Venice is his heart and his soul, his highest aspiration.
Go there....allow the power of art to permeate your spirit, and then take your photographs.
Very few people only go there once.
