Most comments I received said that it was not well set up...
But it was not set up at all! I took this picture at an actual starbucks!
I mean I know it was not such a great picture, but I could just turn all the bottles to face me, or fix the lighting, i just had to take the picture as is...

| A shallower depth of field might have made this shot a little more appealing by blurring the bg and helping underline something in the fg. |

I liked the spontinaeity of it, actually...I prefer random photos to ones that have been carefully set up at times. I was one of your higher scorers.... :3
Don't worry so much about what other people will think of your photo....take it as it feels right to you and that's all that really matters. Unless someone is paying you for it :D |

I gave you a 5. You will find magic in the comments. When two or more voters mention the same thing, then reconsider. I understand your argument. This is a candid shot and many prefer a candid to a set up, but this does not mean that every candid nor every set up shot is ready to compete. What I have done in such cases is to take the shots and then adjust a few botles and shoot again and readjust again and then vary my dof as I go.
I understood your intent. The shot shows the hectic pace, and had a flustered employee been back there it would have added the extra factor.
Not to worry, begin thinking of the next shot.

Unfortunately it suffers from not being the most compelling of subjects. Possibly if the background was blurred out a bit more attention would be brought to the subjects.
Just like what I usually snap. The picture looks too much like a snapshot and thus doesn't score well. |

| Hey Brad: genius is not readily understood. It breaks all all the rules in the process of creating new ones and slices the fixed and standard into new realms. Thumbs up. |

I always find it distasteful when a person needs to vent their opinion upon a place where it will remain on what should be an honour board.
The placements in a challenge are decided my the many and vastly differing points of view of all voters and should be respected for what they are, the average score of all voters.
Each submission rests in the place it has been voted into by all voters, it would never be fair if it was left to 1 individual or small group to decide.

An honour board? Where do you get that idea? It's a place for people to write what they think about our photos - good or bad. There is always plenty of praise for the winning shots, and it's a good think that some folks here feel free to write what they actually think. If you don't want comments - all comments - then don't put photos up here, simle as that.

That is your opinion and that's fine.
Personally I see no need to attack a photo simply because I disagree with its placing after voting has been completed.
This is my feelings and that is fine as well...

Oh man, that comment was sad. Some people just don't get it.
I found it amusing that your cat in the "Cat Scan" wasn't even a cat - it was dog parts.

i liked your image and thought it was a great candid shot.
i've been in meany a starbucks shooting and dringing (coffee) and have been kicked out for trying to take a pic. they're real finicky about there idenity(and photograhping inside).
i think u did a good job and anyone who doesn't see that it is a candid shot has A.)never been in a starbucks, or B.)is not whearing there glasses or contacts.

| yes I had a comment on my 7 entry about it being staged. It was staged but you can't tell me that the top entries weren't, being staged is definiately a part of photography, how do you think things happen in a studio setting anyway? Sorry i'm just ranting about the comment as it seemed pointless to mention. |

It's a really fun shot and creatively, it deserved a ribbon (even made me laugh outloud)....technically speaking, well, I don't know about that..so I can see why someone would be miffed. Graphicfunk has a point though. |

Wow, you are an adventurer. I've gotten in trouble twice for simply taking pictures of my friends in a Starbucks when I was in New York. "No pictures allowed in Starbucks." Whatever. |

I just thought his 'actual Starbucks' phrase was funny. When I lived in Vancouver there was one in my building, two of them two blocks away, and indeed if I walked in any direction from my door I could get to one in under two minutes. They're hard to avoid.

I'm going to take exception to your use of words.
I don't think this is a "candid" as a candid, to me, is a photo of a person taken without posing--at a moment when they were unaware of the camera.
Rather, this would be a "snapshot" or "grab shot" in my opinion.
[And yes, I have been in a Starbucks, but don't plan to go into one again any time soon. And, 2, I always wear my glasses.]
