Has anyone heard of this lens? I just bought it off of ebay for $71. I figure it is worth the risk. I could not find any info on it.
Ebay listing w/ photo
Thanks,

I found some info dating back to '99 on rec.photo.equipment.35mm
According to the Easy Lens Guide, it tied for 4th with the Canon 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 USM. It cost $189 while the Canon cost $280.

When I was researching a lens purchase, I found only good things about Tokina's. Built like tanks, as they said. (But heavy as a result.)
I ended up buying the Sigma 18-125 though for $250, which has wonderful range, very sharp, good colors. Something else to consider, and not too expensive. Only real negative is no USM, and noisy to focus. |

I had a TOKINA 28-80 f2.8 through the range and I was really surprised by the results but unfortunately it died and the AF went on it so I gave it to the GF for her Nikon 601. I think Tokina are very underated. now I only shoot with Nikon or Sigma but Im becoming a lens snob in my old age. |
