So, I had this shot in mind to enter for the Landmark challenge, but never got around to getting there again. Please let me know what you think, how it might have scored, if you hate it, love it, title kills it for you...

Has She Turned Her Back To Us?

Thanks,
Ara

Thanks for the comments, guys. I agree with GeneralE in that it is we who have turned our backs, but I felt that would have been a clunkier title than the one I decided to use. Zoomdak, yes, the sky is boring -- I had to leave, and missed the sunset. If I'd had the chance to go there again, I would have been able to wait, and maybe there would have been some clouds too.

i quite liked it - i felt that the composition was really good in that you avoided the temptation to just fill the shot with the french lady. shows some forethought. the pastel nature of all the colours is quite complimentary; autumn colours suit the greens and browns of the statue and plinth. waiting for the sunset might have given a more tourist-postcard-friendly shot (from memory, i believe it's illuminated quite well) but i don't think your shot has suffered as a result of not waiting. sunsets are so cliched, anyway.

i think post-editting it might do with a bit of adjustment in the curves / level department, to bring out the darks and lights a little more, but that aside a nice image. probably would have given it a 7.

It is at least a real landmark.

I was thinking of this but didn't sent it as it isn't a real landmark but just a monument.

redmoon: thanks! i guess instead of sunset i should have said golden hour. it would have broken up the slightly smoggy looking lower sky with some nice tones.

imagineer: thanks for the comment. unfortunately i didn't take any portrait (or landscape with enough vertical play) shots to see if i liked it that way.

eirasi: i wonder how much of a factor being a "real" landmark will be in the vote. i get the feeling that a well defined shot, in context, will do well regardless of the recognition factor.

does anyone specifically like or dislike the title/concept of the photo? does it lend or decrease any impact to the shot?
