I would like to buy a good landscape lens and i have no clue where to start. Anyone have any suggestions??...my budget is around $300. Ohh and was also wondering if there is a panoramic lens for the Rebel

the kit lens is pretty wide angle, but if you need more, the new EFS 10-22 can't be beat (though it's out of your price range). |

For landscapes, you want wide, yes, but sharpness, distortion and contrast are key as well. I'm finding it hard to recommend anything wholeheartedly in a zoom in that price range. Closest would be the 17-40L. Otheriwse explore wide primes; the Sigma 20/1.8 is wide, sharp and fast to boot. I'm just quoting others here, I have not owned this lens but the fact that it is almost universally praised says a lot. Perhaps others can give first-hand opinion.
For panoramas with the 300D, anything between 20mm and 50mm would be good. The lower the distortion the better. The wider you go, the more problem you wil have with correctimg distortion and getting perfect stitches.

Don`t forget that you can stitch a series of photos together...with sometimes better results than a wide angle lens.
