This could fall into the "shameless plug" category, I suppose, but I don't have anything to benefit from plugging this here...

I designed a web site for a company near us called Sima. You can find some of their products in Best Buy, Circuit City, Ritz, etc.

One product that seems like it would be an awesome addition to anyone's digital photography hardware is their Image Bank products. The idea is that you can tote this little device around and dump your CF (SmartMedia, etc.) data onto its hard drive so that you don't need to own a ton of CF cards.

This seems like a great product for people who are traveling and want to take a zillion pictures, but who don't necessarily own a lot of the more expensive cards.

For example, the 3.2 gig version is only $150! This gives you a heck of a lot more space to deal with at a price that's not a lot more than what you'd pay for a 256MB CF card.

Again, I know the folks at Sima quite well, but I have no vested interest in promoting their stuff here. I just honestly think this is a neat gadget, and many of us here might find it to be a good investment.

It's an interesting product and I own one ... but after a month or so of using it, it "broke". Won't recognize when a card is plugged in. I called the company and they said I had to send it back to them. When I find the receipt, I will send it back and see what they say. I also lost some pix I had stored on it while I was in Hawaii. The pictures were of my stepson's wedding so I was plenty upset! If you buy one, be sure to test it throughly and don't do as I did and rely upon it in a critical situation!
