After a slow start to what I was sure to turn out to be a borring day, I decided to muster up the courage and venture out to a place where I had only been once, but remembered there being some pretty nice sites.

I found quite a few different things to shoot, but I was running on limited time.

Then I decided to venture up this dark road that led up a hill in my jeep. When I got to the top, the sky spanned in all directions. It's the highest spot around and you can look down on everything.

There was this building there that looked REALLY out of place, almost like someone's home (was more of a mansion)...I drove up figuring I'd ask the owner if it would be ok if I returned when I had more time and if it was morning / night or to get some nice skies captured.

This man walked out of the house and i put my window down. Anyway, to make a long story short, they're building an observatory there. They were nice people and even showed me around inside. They have some massive telescopes and sliding roofs, the whole nine yards and then some.

Here's a picture of the smaller telescope (the only one they have fully assembled at the moment) and you can make out the sliding roof too.

On all 4 corners, they have a room with a sliding roof and a place to set up the telescopes.

They offered the place to me any time I felt like going up there which is great and I'm sure I'll be able to get some nice sky pictures from up there.

-- Well, off to paint my sister's house. :-)
