I think this has the potential of being a great print, what do you think? I need some help from you talented folks. What can I do to make it better? I'm pretty sure the backs of the two boys in the near ground are a little too dark. Or is it good as is? I will have to crop it some to fit an aspect ratio for DPCPrints. This one is uncropped, but I kind of like it this way. Please help. Thank you.

I have one with another angle, but I haven't worked on it yet.

I agree with you, the backs of the two kids are a little too dark. It reminded me that I had a scanned picture of a monk that I shot way back in 1996 with a cheap 35mm camera. It may not be digital but I thought it would be fun to post it anyways... I find it funny! So please, no need to critique the technical aspect of this one, I know there is a bunch of things wrong with it! ;)

your pictures good but as a print yeh and no

The background and monk are good - portraying the feeling of isolation - but the boys in the pic seem out of place, they are way too westernised which makes the photo feel like it was takin in a local park

I think what would make it print quality is if either
a- get the boys dressed in traditional monk uniforms
b- clone out the boys and title it "solitude" (which I think would be much better)

Thank you saintnicholas. For me the cloning would be a huge undertaking, I'm pretty new to this. But you might be right about cloning out the boys. Actually it might not be too difficult, it's mostly just grass. Then I would have to crop so the monk would not be in the center, which could help with the aspect ratio I'd need for the print.

Thank you too grandmarginal for your comment.

Anyone else with a helpful hint?

My Edit
This is one idea of what I think it should look like!

do you think this is better than the original? or did I just destroy it - either way I hope you see where im coming from

I like the idea of just one in the photo myself.

I like the idea of just the one monk as well... shouldnt be too hard to clone... but I also like it as is... with adjustments... like the older one is teaching the younger ones... you could go either way... maybe 2 different prints...

Yeah that would'nt be bad eihter, just clone out the white plastic grocery bags at least... I know it worked good in "American Beauty" but if you want to have prints of this picture... I say the bags gotta go!

Oh! Just for fun... You guys try repeating "Monk on a Mountain" 10 times real fast! Let me know how you guys did! ;)

try selecting just the monk in the orange -- and desaturage everything else but leave him colored...just a thought to make him stand out or look alone or whatever :-)

Wow, I went to bed shortly after my last post here, and wasn't expecting to see any more comments on this. And I woke up to this! Cool. (I rarely get many comments when I do this. Only about 3 times.)

I like the solitute also, thanks Saintnicholas. And Sunnie that is also a good idea of two different prints. But I have to get ready for work now. I'll play with it later.

Maybe when I get home from work there will be even more comments! Thanks guys.
