I'm considering upgrading to a Canon 20D and a new flash unit, 550EX or the 580EX, so I've been pricing them up on the internet.

The first thing that's struck me is how much, comparatively, cheaper they are in the US than in the UK.

The next think that struck me was the thought that maybe somebody in the US could buy them on my behalf and send them to me.

Does anybody know if this has been done before?

Is there a particular reason why it shouldn't / couldn't be done?

check www.ebay.com
A lot of the U.S. retailers there will ship worldwide and with the exchange to pounds, you may be well ahead of the game even considering the shipping costs.

Unfortunately, when us UK'ers buy stuff from USA, we have to pay the TAX when it comes into this country... That normally bumps the price up to make it roughly equal.

The best thing you can do is if you know a friend who is going to USA for a holiday, get them to buy it and bring it back over with them.

Flights just now are quite cheap, may be time for a quick christmas shopping spree to New York or something?
