I'm looking at this flash: //www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=NavBar&A=getItemDetail&Q=&sku=352101&is=REG&si=acc#goto_itemInfo
I have a question: does it offer the rapid fire feature that the Canon 550EX has? I have a 420EX and am thinking of adding a second flash unit, but I want one that can act as a master and that can fire in rapid succession, even though the flash might not be fully charged.
Anybody who has one or know if it can?
Thanks in advance.

Here is a review of the EF-500 Super (I believe the DG is an updated model that support digital EOS.)
Hope it helps.

One potential downside to consider is that on the EF-500 Super DG, the focus-assist beam only works with the center AF point. The AF assist on the 420EX works for all 7. |

Thanks, I have read this one.
I found elsewhere that you can fire successive shots, even as fast as 5 FPS if you set it to manual and reduce the power output (approx 1/4) of the flash.
Is that the same thing that happens with the Canon 550 EX, or can you fire rapid succession at full power.
Thanks.

i read a review from someone who used this with a d70, and says it's great. i guess this new one is supposed to support iTTL on the d70, and this guy said it's flawless. i don't know how it translates on the canon side, but i haven't heard any bad reviews yet :)
