Take a look at this shot from Canon's new 1Ds Mark II. This is a direct-from-camera shot, resized down from 16.7MP. Shot at ISO 3200, with only natural light from a window in the ceiling, 1/80th second, Æ’/5.0, Canon 100-400 at 135mm.
Pretty darn impressive for ISO 3200 I'd say... |

I knew this camera would be awesome. I doubt I'll buy anything other than that camera. But at 8000 bucks without a lens that will be a long, long, long time.

That looks around about ISO 800 on a 10D. Amazing. How much better is the 1Ds to the 1D? If I had to choose between the two I'd have a very hard time deciding.

Ya, but if you can afford a 1Ds Mark II then you can probably afford a room full of strobes too - and a small army of helpers to carry them around for you wherever you go. :)

| That is one amazing camera. I am hoping there is a rush to buy the 1Ds Mark II and then people will be selling off their old 1Ds cameras on Ebay. |

That looks like my D70 at ISO 200!! lol. Oh well, sigh.
Well, the good news is cameras like this will probably cost $2,000 or so in a couple of years. But then we'll all want the 30MP camera. |

And I am impressed by the low noise 20D performance.
You don't have the full image do you? I'd be interested in a 100% crop of, say, the top left corner of his glasses showing a bit of frame, and a bit of the tinted glass...
Impressive.

Amazing! I shoot at 800 and 1600 quite a lot with my 300D but I now need, no want, one of these babies. Just need to win the lottery and its mine, all mine!!

looks like they mis-focused to me - the hat, and jacket collar seem to be the crispest.

Hmmm, I get a lot of noise--more than I expected when I bought the camera, at ISO 400!
Could there be something wrong with it? (I shoot in RAW).
Anyone want to do a test of sorts with me, comparing same shots? (E.g., same lens etc. I have the 50 1.8 we probably all have in common.) |

| Forget 3200 I just wish Nikon would come out with a ISO 25 or 50. I'm sick of using ND filters. When I shot film I never shot faster than 50 color or 100 B&W. ISO 200 is just too fast. |

I suppose the fact that it's downsized almost 3:1 in linear resolution is helping average the noise out, but still, WOW. Unbelievable at ISO 3200.
