Let me explain my idea: I wanto to give as a chistmas present a portrait of my father and mother-in-law to them. But untill know I could not take a natural picture of them withought they notice it. So I went back to the computer and see if I have any. But none would satisfy me.

Because I'm not very trained in Photoshop skills, I'ved played a bit with one that I think it might do the trick and here it is for you to comment.

This is the original photo. A bit like a point and shoot photo, with nothing good in it to begin with.

After deciding to use this one I went in Photoshop and edit it. Curves to adjust coulor. Stam to remove some distracting details from the image and then cropped to do a 25cm x 20cm photo to frame it.

To achieve this I changed it to black and white and passed it in Neat Image. I was pleased wih it but not completly.

So I went back today and play with it a bit more.

In this version I aplied a diffuse glow filter and then transform it in to a quadri-tone, bronze like.

At this version Ihave done a bit less thight crop, and aplied the diffuse gloe filter in the original corrected coulor.

Any sugestions how to make it better? Do you like any of my posts?

Is there any easy way to do sepia? Any specific filter?

The problem is, once you are working on a photo for SOOOO long it's hard to be objective. For me, I think it's a cute snap shot and I like the background whited out, but the blur on the skin is just whacky. Sort of makes them look like wax figures.

Take a break from it, you just need 'fresh eyes' !!!! lol

Thank's. You're probably right. I do need a time off the image. :)

Nuno this is a great shot of them and one I am sure they would love to have. I don't know what size your original is but if it's large enough to crop them closer, I think it would look better. He's a big guy and seems to be overpowering the photo. Keep in mind I am one of those who tends to crop very close so others may disagree.

This is an example of what I was thinking.

Don't think it needs much more than this.

Thank you all for the suggestions. The original file is only 3MP, so I'm goingo to try the closest crop... But is thight.

I like the crop that BrenB has done. She is right that he sort of "takes over" the shot. This crop focuses onto their faces.
