Well it's time to start here in the UK :p
But yeah my question right now is how do you think you'll do? Are you 100% happy with your entry? Anything you wished you'd be able to change?
And for tomorrow, this can be the how you doin thread.
Right now I'm very happy with my photograph, it's something unlike anything I've ever taken before, so I'm excited to how it turns out. Don't let me down! :p
Post away.

Haha I don't know I'm new, I figured since they're all the rage it's been done for a while.
Ah well.

Mine was the other way round. I thought about giving up on Lucky 7 a few times after resubmitting 3 times, but meh I'll leave it.

I haven't entered anything in a few months. I missed a couple that I really wanted to do, and didn't enter a couple because I thought my idea would be "overdone" (and then it ends up no one had the same idea!)
So...I shot something for this one. Am I satisfied? Not really. I think it turned out fine technically, but I don't think it's very creative. I entered it because I don't learn much when I don't have any entries, and because it's been so long.
I predict a solid 5.3 |

I am very happy with my Low Tech entry, it's good enough that I already sold a print of it (I had to order it of course since it won't be available to the general public until the challenge is over).

But when I love an image, DPC voters usually hate it ;( |

I think I had this one pegged almost perfectly. My score doesn't usually vary much after the first 50 votes and after 60 votes I'm at 5.3! |

my entry is being shot down because nobody remember the SLR feature ISO. At this point I don't care if I get disqualified and no I didn't enter an SLR but if you remember that era then you would remember what Hi-tech was or assumed to be. anyways Just a RANT and this should be ignored.

Personally I've very happy with my entry, I know what I was going to shoot and I had it done early in the challenge. As anyone on DPC, I wish it was higher but I think its going to be my highest shot so far. Also, that goes for my Humor one. Both are doing well in my books, but this one is it for me... Low Tech all the way ;-) |

At the risk of posting a thread-killer ... I have never been 100% happy with any entry, neither before nor after posting/voting. Maybe I'm too critical, but there will always be some element I wish I'd reshot, some flaw I wish I had edited better, or some element my editing had emphasized better.
I am also busy enough that I don't take days to shoot and reshoot, edit and re-edit. Maybe that's the difference between the pros and the rest of us. I can only give you what I can do in a few hours although the time I'm taking is going up somewhat.
However, with practice and the occasionally painfull lessons taught by the DPC voters and commenters, I believe I am beginning to internalize some things that are making my photos better.
I recently went back to my web site and looked at digital photos from 1999. Some of them were horrible to my 2004 eye. Poorly selected, poorly composed, poorly edited, and poorly presented. Also they were shot with a pretty primitive camera.
For me, one of the great values of this site is a chance to practice, practice and practice ... and an audience to let you know how you're doing ... and at their best, help you with suggestions to do better.
Graphicfunk is great example to me in this regard. He is unfailingly encouraging and his critiques are usually spot on. I am thankful for the attention he has given me and my photos.
Thanks! |

If I reply to this, then I guess the thread lives. Does that make me a hero? :P

Couldn't agree more.
