In the Time Passing Challenge! Three new names on the front page! How wonderful! Congrats!

Now a question, if these three people entered the Low Tech Challenge, do they now have to pull their entry because they now have ribbons?

It's great to see new names on the front page!

Again?! That's 9 new ribboners in the last couple of weeks!

As for low-tech, Langdon (I think) posted that the other recent new ribboners could enter, so there shouldn't be a problem.

Congrats to all 3 : )

Okay, then I'm confused. In the Master's Challenges where you have to have two ribbons, if you win that second ribbon while the Challenge is still open or win 2 ribbons while the challenge is still open you are then eligible to enter the Masters. So wouldn't the reverse be true for the Invitational, if you ribbon, even for a first time, while the challenge is open wouldn't that disqualify you?

I'm not trying to cause a problem here and I honestly haven't kept up on the forums as much lately, life has been a little busy, so I probably missed this part. Could one of the site council or adminstrators chime in here?

My personal opinion is that eligibility should be determined at the time the challenge is announced. That is how it works in just about any other competition, and is the easiest to explain / comprehend: You're either eligible when the challenge is announced or you're not. Otherwise, it will be confusing trying to determine when ribbons count towards invitational eligibility and when they don't.

That being said, I'm not sure how the admins currently have it coded. Hopefully we can get a definitive answer.

But in the mean time, it is a "fact" that even if you've won a ribbon since the "Low Tech" invitational was announced, you are still eligible to submit.

The last three challenges, non-ribbon people have gotten all the 9 ribbons! Amazing! :-D

I guess they're shakin' the hat a little more vigorously these days. Kidding of course. ;)

Deannda,

This is answered in the invitational challenge announcement thread.

I had to go through two pages of debate to find a one line answer, dink! Okay, so I got my answer, now my next question.

Why are the rules different for this one than the original Master/Invitational Challenges? Just tweaking them as we go?

When I say different I mean, if you qualified while the challenge was open (won enough ribbons to enter) you could but this is kind of the opposite. I saw it as an opportunity for those of us who still have no ribbon at all except for brown or green to finally get a shot at a top three spot. Now you have 9 people who were qualified when the challenge originally opened but if the challenge started today (posted/listed) they wouldn't be qualified.

Okay, I'm going to shut up now, going to pick up my kids and then come back and work on some pictures and ebay. :)

I think so -- these are experimental challenges. The decision was made to adjust/clarify the rules so that the maximum number of people would be included, and no one would be kicked out of a challenge they were eligible for at the time they entered.

Also note there will be three more first-time winners tonight.

Congratulations on 3 more new winners.

I am happy I read this because I also won a ribbon since the low tech started and after I won mine there was a note on my entry that I could not enter because I had won a ribbon. I pulled my entry and thought that was the end of it. I just looked and the note is now gone. So guess I get to enter afterall?
