Thanks for taking a look. Your views are interesting - I think you disliked most of the things I liked about them :)
Originally posted by eugene: The outhouse is dwarfed by the tree, I would have figured out an angle to take the outhouse without the tree, its a really good subject.
(This really was a teeny tiny building. I meant for the tree to make it look small, but I have another angle in my portfolio where if looks more "life-sized".)
The shadows are really visible on the both pictures of the church (perhaps a different time of day?). Also from these angles the church also does not make a great subject, its pretty plain (despite its religious and historical significance). Perhaps there is something interesting about the church you would like to photograph?
(I found the plain-ness to be part of the charm of this old building. I thought the dramatic colors and shadows added too the feeling of the shot.)
In the case of antique seat, I am not really sure what the foreground object is, and the seat is really obsured by the foreground... Perhaps a shot from higher angle would be better, or include the whole foreground?
(I have several shots of the whole subject, but I thought this had an almost abstract appeal.)
The cutie picture is awesome. The clarity and focus distance is great! The outfit matches the eyes, which is awesome too.
(Cant agree more here, but I am partial!)
The picture of the acadamy has the horizon off about 1 or 2 degrees, and the shadows are very visible again (different time of day, or cloudy day would be better for this subject). The color composition is great... If it was an overcast day with interesting clouds that shot would be awesome.
(I didn't take the time to adjust the horizon here, and should have, but again, I liked the dramatic blue sky and brilliant white of the building coupled with the bright red roof.)
The horizon is off on the fort gate picture as well (you can easily fix the horizon in photoshop). Also your subject (the gate I assume) is dwarfed again by the tree in the background... I would prefer a smaller dof or a different composition... |
(No horizon problem here. It is old and crooked, again, part of the charm.)
I really do appreciate all of your comments. I just thought it was interesting how differently we were looking at them.
Anyone else?
