..a round barn? This is THE Round Barn, located outside of State College PA. It's on the National Register of Historical Places. Altough it's on private property, the folks that own it were really cool about letting me on their land to take pictures of it.

did you get other shots today? the skies were just incredible around here...they looked a lot like what i see in your shot. cool capture, eric!

Yea,I took quite a few pics. I agree the sky was beautiful- between the rain showers.

A building with no right angles (90 degree type)...go figure

That's cool.

I've seen Octagonal barns and there is an Octagonal house here in town that dates back to shortly after the Civil War.

Round barns were and are still used for lounging horses (in a 20m circle). Much of dressage training (and basic dressage used by the cavalry) evolves around a 20 m circle. Race tracks use them too, less formally. I wonder if this was the original purpose for the building depicted here.

There is a round house in Plympton Ma.and one in Montville Maine that I know of. Never seen a round barn.
