Some more photos from a recent model shoot with the lovely Bistra.
A couple of these are close to my entry for b&w and might well have replaced it had it not been basic editing.
Comments welcome.

Well, I'm not really qualified to comment on portrait sudio work, not having done any, ever. I don't even have a flash gun, (yet). But I can tell you which I like best, that would be the fourth one with the chair in it.
I like it bacause of the lighting and the pose looks the most natural to me. I also like the second from last, (full length) but its a bit too dark.
Hope that is of some help at least.

I love them all. Brilliant lighting. Well done Simon. I think the money you spent on the lighting course is worth every cent. I might sign up and do that course. I especially like the fourth image.

I love them all! Natator - these are fantastic! My favorites are the 4th and last ones. But all of them are wonderful. Great lighting, pose, composition... what did you use for a background and lighting?

Thanks for the feedback people :) There is a more colourful set as well, and also the white set I already posted, but I think this set are my favourite.
Yup Boonzon, it was a great course, just one more night to go now on taking photos of products. It was a 6 week, 2 hours a week, course at the local photography/art college Marjo. Very best of all, although these were done on the course, I would be able to reproduce there myself now (i.e. it was not all so complicated that with the instructor not there they are too complicated to do yourself as a beginner - ok, awkward double negative sentence, decypher that yourself ;)
The lighting:
White background: This was x2 strobes to burn out the background completely, another strobe on the model with a softbox on it. Importantly, there was a 3 stop difference (from memory) between the model and the background.
Black background: Just a single strobe with a softbox, coming in from the side. I used a reflector for some shots, but I don't think it was used for any of those shots.
I now have a studio set up at home, but have not had a chance to use it yet, and am annoyingly away next weekend so can't play then either :(
Will post some when I do them myself at home, to prove that following a course like that you really can achieve the same results without assistance :) Now, where did I leave that model?????
