This challenge can be understood in 2 ways... Wide open Aperture and Wide open Lens. The pictures would look completely different :) Just want to be sure before I shoot something that would attract many 1´s and 2´s because I misunderstood the competition or the voter maybe...
Is it about a small focus area, a Macro challenge OR a Close up Wide angle... funny looking pictures? |

I think it’s a Macro/Bokah Challenge - wide open to me is aperture - wide angle is different. But I’m sure everyone will read this differently. Especially since there is a landscape for the next challenge. |

That is the reason I wanted to get it clear as most of my team understands it as a wide angle challenge... getting close to the subject with the lense wide open.
If we dont get this straight the voting will be unfair to say the least :)
So I would really appreciate a clear answer, and maybe put it in the challenge subscribtion to omit any misunderstandings :) |

I checked in Google and Up Close Wide Open usually refers to Wide Open Aperture, not Wide Angle lens. I guess the challenge would need to be called Up Close with Wide Angle to interpret it this way.
I think whoever came up with this topic needs to clarify ASAP as a lot of shooting has already been done and these are Playoffs!
PS It would be unfair to include in the description requirement for specific equipment like wide angle lens, not everyone has them, same applies to macro lenses. Wide Open aperture is fair enough as it could be anywhere between 0.8 and 5.6 depending on the camera equipment. It is up to a photographer to make it clear that the shot was taken at wide end of aperture.
PS2 I am surprised that nobody else queried this before in the forum, a week has already passed!

I agree... If it would be a Macro challenge, I would say it should say that. |

It does not have to be a macro, many portraits use close ups with widest aperture to blur out the background. |

Up close should be self explanatory. Get your lens close to the subject.
Wide open means you use the maximum aperture of said lens.
I hope that is helpful. And since there are already entries made to the challenge we should end the discussion here for now.
