I was asked (by glad2badad) how I made my Motion II entry, and of what it was. I figured out a cool method that I don't know if anyone has tried, and want to share with you.
Most mirrorless cameras today, have "Focus by wire" lenses, which means that their focus wheels are free spinning, giving electronic signals to the camera to change focus, rather than being linked via movement of physical hardware. In the Canon R series cameras - and I imagine this should be possible on most other brands as well - you can de-couple the focus wheel completely. On Canon, in the AF menus, you find "Lens electronic MF" category and under that you will find "Disable in AF mode" - set that to ON. That means you can spin the lens focus wheel without affecting focus at all. From there, if you simply hold the focus wheel in its place and then rotate the camera, you will rotate your image on the axis of the lens's pupil, allowing you to do smooth, aligned / symmetrical rotations like the one I made. This took some practice and effort.
The subject was my christmas decorated kitchen window :) Merry christmas everyone!
